Team Biography

Currently, Kevin Flick and Eric Wilka make up the Quilts for Orphans Team. We have a combined total of 11 years experience working with adolescents and young adults. We met while working at a group home for at risk youth, and from working together we developed a strong friendship which would lead to challenging each other to do something about social justice and the redeveloping of Quilts for Orphans.

Kevin Flick is 34 and is celebrating 12 years of marriage. He lives in southern Indiana with his wife and two daughters. He has had a long history of working with youth and adolescents. He was youth pastor for five years. After that he worked in a group home for at risk youth for four years. Kevin is currently finishing up his undergraduate degree in Informantics at Indiana University. Kevin also started one of the first music blogs in 1997 called Puddlegum, writing over 1,000 articles. Over the years his blog has been recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine, Spin, TUAW, hundreds of blogs, and has been on the front page of Digg twelve times. His blog was referenced on BBC Radio 6 during a Thom Yorke (Radiohead) interview with Steve Lamacq. Emphasizing his love for music, Kevin is a certified recording engineer.

Eric Wilka is 23 and lives in northern Indiana. He has a Bachelors Social Work and is currently working to complete a Masters in Social Work at IUPUI. He has worked with youth and adolescents in several different settings, and he continues to work at a group home for at risk youth that he’s been at for almost two years. Eric has also worked at a day camp for adolescents at a community mental health center as well as volunteered at a local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club. Strengthening his experience, he has also worked with people with developmental disabilities and volunteered at a local food pantry and soup kitchen.
